The 1000+ bed $400M federally funded Pinkenba Quarantine Centre located near Brisbane Airport was proposed during the lockdown phase of the pandemic.<\/p>\n
It had become clear at the time that hotel quarantine breaches were inevitable, so the QLD Government on advice from the Chief Health Officer decided to proceed with a dedicated facility to help stop the spread of Covid-19.<\/p>\n
The facility is nearing completion, however has been reassessed as no longer being required for its initial purpose. Instead the quarantine facility will be reconsidered for other uses.<\/p>\n
Mascot Tailors Just the Right GRC Solution to Service the Centre’s Electrical Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n Mascot Engineering were engaged to provide large scale 1200m sq GRC Cable Pits, Cast Iron Infill Cover solutions in Class D and GMS Checkerplate Covers to support the electrical requirements of the facility.\u00a0 The installation was completed with the use of GRC Risers ensuring the ability to accommodate the varying Pit depths on the project. This particular install required the cables to be pulled at difficult angles, so the strength and resilience of GRC meant that this difficult cable pull was managed confidently.<\/p>\n A great feature of Mascot GRC is the ability to knock holes into the Pit directly on-site without compromising the integrity of the Pit, however, our team provided pre-prepared conduit entries to enable an efficient install at the request of the customer.
