The Marriott Adelaide

Adelaide has welcomed a new architectural landmark with the opening of the Adelaide Marriott Hotel, a $200 million project revitalising the historic GPO site in the heart of the CBD. A striking blend of heritage and modernity, the hotel not only marks Marriott International’s first presence in South Australia, but also celebrates the city’s growing global appeal.

Heritage Reimagined

The redevelopment honours the GPO’s 19th-century façade while integrating a 16-storey luxury hotel tower designed to echo South Australia’s natural landscape. The interiors—crafted by Woods Bagot—feature warm, earthy tones inspired by local wine regions, layered textures, and immersive public spaces that pay tribute to the site’s storied past.

Comfort Meets Elegance

The hotel boasts:

  • 285 premium rooms, including a 145m² presidential suite
  • An executive lounge, indoor pool, and gym
  • Over 760m² of meeting and event space

From business travellers to leisure guests exploring nearby wine country, the hotel is built to impress.

Built for Performance – Inside and Out

The redevelopment’s high standards extend beyond interiors to the infrastructure underfoot. Mascot Engineering supplied a Cast Iron Paver infill Class C250 12 part multipart access cover for the hotel’s exterior works—a robust and reliable solution designed to blend seamlessly with paved public areas.

Mascot Engineering’s Cast Iron Covers are a heavy-duty solution designed for demanding urban and commercial environments. Rated to Class C250 (EN124), these covers are ideal for areas with fast-moving traffic, including city streets and commercial forecourts. Manufactured from durable cast iron, Mascot’s Cast Iron Paver Infill Covers are gastight, making them suitable for applications where odour or gas containment is essential—such as drainage, sewer, or utility networks in sensitive locations. The paver infill feature offers a seamless finish that integrates neatly with surrounding surfaces, while still delivering the load-bearing strength and long-term reliability Mascot Engineering is known for.

We take our hat off to the installer on this project. The intricate pavers would have been challenging, however, the installer has clearly done a great job ensuring the aesthetic of the entrance to the Marriott was preserved. A fantastic result!
